Acupuncture Overview:

Acupuncture, a cornerstone of Traditional Chinese Medicine, carries a legacy of promoting health and well-being spanning thousands of years in China. Its contemporary practice, however, extends beyond tradition to become an evidence-based medical approach. Extensive research, including hundreds of systematic reviews and meta-analyses, strongly supports acupuncture’s effectiveness across various medical conditions. Notably, the FDA’s 1996 classification as a safe and effective medical tool, coupled with the WHO’s 1998 report affirming its safety and effectiveness across 100+ diseases and symptoms, underscore its credibility. Globally, numerous international and national Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) recommend Acupuncture as a treatment option for many different diseases, particularly in musculoskeletal conditions. It has been included in the curricula of numerous American, European, Australian, and Asian universities and medical schools at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. With over thousands of physicians integrating acupuncture into clinical practice, especially in some European countries like UK and Germany have more than 40,000 physicians, its widespread adoption is evident. Notably, physiotherapists, alongside medical doctors, widely utilize acupuncture globally. In recognition of this, I have designed this intensive course tailored for physiotherapists, aimed at proficiently applying acupuncture techniques in treating neurological Disorders.”

Acupuncture and neurological Disorders

3-Day Intensive Neuro-Acupuncture Course for Physiotherapists
Neurological disorders present some of the most complex challenges in rehabilitation, often leaving patients with persistent deficits in movement, balance, coordination, and quality of life.
In response to the growing demand for integrative, evidence-based approaches, this 3-day intensive Neuro-Acupuncture course has been designed exclusively for physiotherapists, bridging the gap between Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern neurorehabilitation.
Neuro-acupuncture offers a powerful tool to support the recovery of patients suffering from conditions such as stroke, spasticity, motor weakness, tremor, and vertigo.
By stimulating specific acupuncture points and neural zones particularly scalp acupuncture areas and motor-related channels, this technique promotes neuroplasticity, improves cerebral perfusion, reduces inflammation, and helps restore neuromuscular control.

Clinical research and systematic reviews increasingly support acupuncture's role in:

  • Enhancing motor recovery and gait stability in post-stroke patients

  • Reducing spasticity and muscle hypertonia by modulating reflex circuits

  • Improving muscle activation in flaccid limbs through scalp and motor point stimulation

  • Managing tremors and movement disorders, including Parkinsonism

  • Alleviating vertigo and balance disorders by regulating vestibular and central pathways

Throughout this hands-on course, participants will explore both the Western neurophysiological mechanisms and the TCM syndromic patterns behind these conditions. They will learn how to safely and effectively apply neuro-acupuncture within their physiotherapy practice, combining traditional meridian knowledge with modern rehabilitation strategies.
Whether you're seeking to expand your clinical toolbox or deliver more comprehensive care to neurological patients, this course provides the knowledge, skills, and confidence to integrate neuro-acupuncture into real-world practice.

By the completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the Neurophysiological Basis of Acupuncture and how acupuncture influences the central and peripheral nervous systems.

  2. Apply TCM Principles to Neurological Conditions.

  3. Effectively Use Body Acupuncture for Neurological Symptoms:

    • Identify and locate key body acupuncture points used to treat:

      • Spasticity

      • Muscle weakness

      • Hemiparesis and foot drop

      • Tremors and movement disorders

      • Post-stroke paralysis

  4. Perform Scalp Acupuncture Techniques with Confidence:

    • Understand scalp acupuncture zones related to motor, sensory, and balance functions.

    • Practice safe and accurate needle insertion techniques for motor rehabilitation.

    • Use scalp acupuncture for conditions like stroke, Parkinsonian tremors, and balance disorders.

  5. Integrate Neuro-Acupuncture into Physiotherapy Practice:

  6. Demonstrate Safe Clinical Practice:

    • Follow safety guidelines and contraindications for acupuncture in neurologically impaired patients.

    • Manage patient comfort and communication during needling.
