Hayat completed her undergraduate education and graduated from Faculty of Physiotherapy, 6th of October University in 2006. She has more than 16 years of experience in both Cardiopulmonary and Musculoskeletal rehabilitation, she started her clinical experience in Dar El Salam General Hospital in 2008 and became the deputy head of the Department of Physiotherapy till 2018. She was trained and applied practical application for her master’s degree in the National Heart Institute from 2011 to 2013. She got her master’s degree in cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation from Cairo University in 2013. She is now enrolled in the Doctorate Degree program in Cairo University. She started her journey with Primephysio in 2018, assisted in more than 8 Orthopaedic Manual Therapy Certificate program. She also assisted in Mulligan, and Kinetic Control courses. She achieved her level 2a in the Maitland Concept, aiming to continue the lovely journey and become an official Maitland Therapist. She is now one of the teaching team in OMTC, Sports, Taping, Kinetic Control and Dry Needling programs and part of curriculum development team. She joined the Egyptian Archery Federation as a member in the medical committee in 2021, and the Zamalek Sporting Club Women Basketball Team as a Senior Physiotherapist. This course covers
Introduction to:
-
Development of taping.
-
Basic principles about different materials of taping.
Therapeutic taping properties:
-
Guidelines for integrating tape into treatment.
Different approaches of taping for different clinical scenarios:
Fascial unloading:
Fascial unloading techniques attempt to alter connective tissue response to mechanical strain
(ex. Rotator cuff pain- whiplash- lateral elbow pain- anterior knee pain- thigh injuries- plantar fascia pain)
Postural re-education tape:
Taping can be used as a posture habit re-education reminder. It can improve proprioception of the Posture System and serves as a trigger to correct the patient's posture when they start to slump.
Mechanical re-alignment tape:
Mechanical re-alignment taping allows patients to participate in daily activities and movement therapy treatments without being limited by pain. There are several different taping procedures that can be provided, depending on movement needs, including the glide, tilt, or rotation.
(ex. PPFS- lateral elbow pain- ankle sprain- shoulder pain)
Lymphatic tape:
Lymph Taping has a wide range of evidence and became an ideal approach for supporting lymphatic drainage. As KT has the same elasticity as the skin it can be applied with a special technique, so that lymph fluid can be drained faster.
Taping for neurological conditions:
The use of taping in neurological re-education changes input into the brain, bringing more representation, to the brain, toward the painful region, which helps to change output, also based on research evidence, taping is effective for balance function, lower limb function, and walking function in poststroke patients.
Scar and suture taping:
Non-stretch tapes, for the prevention of linear surgical scarring, are effective in reducing scar characteristics of height, color, and itchiness. Paper tapes have shown effectiveness when applied during wound remodelling or even on mature scarring, with reported subjective changes in scar colour, thickness and pliability.
Athletic strapping:
The general goals of athletic taping are to restrict the motion of an injured joint, in order to add stability for a temporary period of time. It compresses soft tissues to reduce swelling, support anatomical structures involved in the injury, serve as a splint or secure a splint, secure dressing or bandages, protect the injured joint from re-injury, and protect the injured part while the injured part is in the healing process.
Floss bands:
Tissue flossing involve applying an external pressure above or below a muscle or joint of the extremities, typically by using a circumferential, elastic band. The pressure provided by the coiled band safely maintains arterial inflow of blood but reduces or occludes venous outflow distal to the site. there is evidence that a single floss band treatment is able to increase the range of motion of the related joint and can positively affect jumping and strength performance.
