This course has an online distance learning part that will assist participants in an overview of the pelvic anatomy, and normal function with a specific focus on pelvic floor dysfunction in female urinary dysfunction besides bowel dysfunction and the common terminology used in assessment or treatment.
All the previous will be discussed and looked at through evidence-based management in a face to face 2-day intensive practical sessions plus exploring the role of a women's health specialist in depth.
By the end of the course, the participants will be confident to interview patients with the above conditions and assess and apply proper treatment plans to achieve a healthy lifestyle for these female patients.

Heba is a manual and women's health therapist who completed her undergraduate studies at Cairo University in 1995 and worked clinically until 1998 before moving to Kuwait. Since then, she has been working to gain experience in evidence-based practice. From 1998-2000, she actively participated in the Kuwait-Dalhousie program held in PM&R hospital in collaboration between M.O.H and P.T office. Throughout her years of experience, she has attended conferences, symposiums, and workshops in Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and the U.A.E. By 2012, she was certified for medical taping and was introduced to PRIMEPHYSIO training. She continued to build her knowledge base and successfully passed the professional diploma in manual therapy held by Prime-Physio in Kuwait, completing her advanced clinical two-week placement in Sheffield, UK, in 2016. In March 2015, she was certified as a dry needle practitioner and a certified Mulligan practitioner. Her journey with women's health passion started in 2013 by attending multiple workshops for pelvic floor dysfunction assessment and management. She continued to improve her skills and successfully passed a six-month training program about the role of PT in women's health held by Kuwait University in 2015. As a senior of the PT female orthopedic unit in PM&R hospital, Heba is responsible for solving staff and patient problems in addition to managing a sufficient case load. She also shares in presenting lectures for public awareness and has conducted several internal and external training programs titled "Lumbo-pelvic dysfunction problems PT management".

Course objectives :
In this highly practical 2 days and will be online lectures to cover the theoretical part to ensure that the 2 days are totally covering the practice and reasoning elements

Earning knowledge of the female pelvic anatomy & function.

Supervised pelvic floor muscle evaluation (external palpation examination).

Recognizing signs leading to the impairment or limitations & being able to suggest treatment (external manual therapy/exercise/ patient education & stress management).

Explore the role of PT in pelvic health (focusing on bladder & bowel function), and feel confident to pass the message to other health professionals.

Discuss case studies and apply clinical reasoning.
