Mahmoud Saad

Saad qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1999. He started his academic career as a senior lecturer in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at Sheffield Hallam University in 2005 and led the contemporary musculoskeletal rehabilitation module within the advanced M.Sc. program for many years. He has completed a master's in musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Manual therapy Diploma (MACP route) from Sheffield Hallam University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. with a focus on the role of Exercise and Physical activity in the management of Musculoskeletal problems.

 

Saad has taught extensively both nationally and internationally. This course is part of the popular Orthopaedic Manual and Exercise Therapy Certificate that has been delivered over 300 times in 17 countries.

The management of shoulder nociceptive and neuropathic problems will be explored, with close attention to differential diagnosis. A simple yet effective model will be presented to guide treatment selection, including targeted manual therapy and exercise therapy.

Aims

  • Cover the screening of possible red flags to ensure patient safety.

  • Identify possible brachial/shoulder pain with an emphasis on cervical and thoracic spine involvement.

  • Provide essential cues to guide a specific and focused subjective examination.

  • Apply a simple yet comprehensive physical examination approach that does not rely on unreliable special tests.

  • Use videos to demonstrate various manual techniques aimed at improving mobility and decreasing pain.

  • Provide evidence-based exercise therapy for the management of rotator cuff tendon pathology and overall shoulder stability.
